"I am very pleased to support the NCCU Variety Performance 2009. The
dedicated work of medical units such as the  Neuroscience Critical Care Unit at
Addenbrookes hospital is an inspiration to us all.

I send great good luck to everyone involved in this project and hope that it will be
a huge success.

With love and best wishes,

Dame Judi Dench
I was delighted to hear that so many companies are getting
together to raise money for The Neuroscience Critical Care Unit at
Addenbrookes Hospital. It is providing exemplary work in a
desperately needed area of medicine. As well as knowing you are
doing something very worthwhile I hope you will all enjoy
yourselves hugely.

Sheila Friend-Smith - Mayor of Ely

"I am very pleased to offer my support to our local
theatrical communities fundraising event for the
Neuroscience Critical Care Unit (NCCU) at
Addenbrookes Hospital.

Most of us know someone who has suffered a head
injury, epilesy, a stroke or other similar illnesses and
we are extremely fortunate in having such a highly
respected unit in Cambridgeshire. I hope this very
special variety event will raise a huge amount of
money in gratitude and in celebration of the wonderful
work performed by this unit."
Lady Mary Archer - Chairman Addenbrookes Hospital

"I would be delighted to be a "Friend" of this event."

"The Neurosciences Critical Care Unit at Addenbrookes is the biggest of its kind in Europe
with over 700 patients admitted to the unit each year, not only from East Anglia but also
from some parts of the UK and the rest of the world. Therefore there is a huge demand on
its resources and fund-raising for extra support is vital.

It is wonderful to hear that the Ely area amateur theatre community will be a variety
performance in aid of the unit and I do hope it will be an enjoyable, as well as successful,
fundraising event."

"Unfortunately I have a prior comittment and am unable to be with you on your gala
evening, but I hope to come along on the 8th May."

Mr James Paice - Member of Parliament

"I am delighted to support a very worthwhile venture to raise
money for an often neglected part of the Health Service which
can make a vast amount of difference to people's lives"
Kind regards,

James Paice, MP

I am delighted to send my best wishes as you prepare for the variety performances at
Witchford Village College in May. The performances will raise valuable funds for the
Neurosciences Critical Care Unit at Addenbrookes.  The Unit carries out tremendous
work for people in East Anglia and beyond, and it does great credit to everyone
involved that you have chosen to raise money for this cause. I am sure the
performances will be a great success, and I would like to wish you well.

David Cameron - Conservative Party Leader
"During my happy three years doing panto at the Cambridge Arts I
visited Addenbrookes hospital on a number of occasions and was
always humbled by the amazing efforts of the staff and the fortitude
and determination to remain happy and positive shown by the patients.
Many of these were small children who were often very sick and in
pain. Yet they continued to laugh and smile even when faced with my
terrible old jokes!

You should all be very proud of your efforts to help these people. And
what better way to celebrate life and the promise the future holds than
with a great show full of talented young people having fun?

Have a great evening and give generously!!

Love, "

Michael Fenton Stevens.
On 8th and 9th May 2009, the local theatrical and dance
community came together for 3 spectacular performances of
variety acts. In doing so they raised over £7000 for the
Neurosciences Critical Care Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital,
Cambridge.

The linked pages show the team in action. Below are some of
the many letters of feedback from the audience and those in
the show. Thank you to all those involved and everyone that
came to watch.
"Absolutely brilliant, Keith. Best
show I've seen in ages........

No forced sentimentality, just
"getting up and doing it" as an
appropriate tribute and raising a
load of cash for a very good
cause. HUGE congrats to all
involved."
It has honestly been an honour and
a privilege to have got to know and
worked with so many new friends,
thank you everyone who worked so
hard to make it a success and to
you Keith for coming up with such a
damn daft idea in the first place :-)" -
"I have to say last night
was really superb and
you deserve to be proud"
"We all really enjoyed the show
tonight - the variety of acts
made it especially entertaining".
"I would like to say how
much we enjoyed it on
Saturday, thanks to all
involved. There is an
amazing amount of talent
out there, & the show made
us happy & sad all at the
same time!

Please pass on our thanks
& best wishes to all",

Just a note to thank you for the
incredible work you and the team did
in pulling together the series of
performances and all the other related
activities. It was a real pleasure to
work with so many contributors and to
see such generosity of spirit and
camaraderie. Your work resulted in an
extended community project which
celebrated talent and brought together
people of all ages for a truly wonderful
experience. I feel privileged to have
been part of it and proud to have
worked with such a fantastic group of
people.
"It's very rare to do a show like this
when so many groups pull together for
a great cause and not only get on with
the job but get on with each other. A
truly humbling experience that I hope
we can repeat one day"
"That was a fantastic evening and I can't thank you enough for
putting such a wonderful show together."
