“A Christmas with Natasha Marsh”
23rd December 2007

As Christmas approaches, anticipating cosy, heart-warming days
ahead, our thoughts are filled with moments of nostalgia, romance and
childlike joy.  Such sentiments were exquisitely expressed by the highly
accomplished soprano Natasha Marsh in her concert “A Christmas
Evening with Natasha Marsh” in Ely Cathedral.

Her experience as a reputable opera singer gave her singing a lovely
pure penetrating sound that soared beautifully, her emotional intensity
coloured with warmth.

A programme of familiar popular music drew the crowds. Noteworthy
items included the opening unaccompanied solo “Silent Night”, “Autumn
Leaves”, “Oh My Beloved Father” and “Merry Christmas to You”.

Fordham Church of England School Choir ably supported Natasha with
delightfully vibrant performances of “Jingle Bells, “Let it Snow” and
“Have yourself a merry little Christmas”.  Additional interest to the
programme was given by Will Martin, a talented New Zealand singer
who appropriately sang music from “The Lord of the Rings” amongst
other splendid offerings including “Going Home” – the theme form
Dvorak’s “New World Symphony”.

The singers were accompanied by some fine instrumentalists including
Eclipse, a string quartet from London and pianist and organist Jill
Farrow.

This was a very agreeable evening’s entertainment and it was no
wonder Natasha’s CDs had quickly sold out on the night.
