AUDITIONS
for the June 2008
Festival Players production of

The Scarlet Pimpernel
The dates have been decided for the Scarlet Pimpernel auditions and pre-audition evening.  The details are yet to
be sorted out but I thought I’d email you so that you could set aside the time and not miss out.  Following the
decision last year to remove the automatic right for chorus members to be in the next production, everyone will
need to audition but we will try to make the process as painless as possible.  All sessions, including the pre-audition
evening will be at the Castle End Mission.  The dates are:

Pre-audition evening – Monday 7th January
1st audition session – Thursday 10th January
2nd audition session – Monday 14th January
3rd audition session – Saturday 19th January AM
Re-calls – Saturday 19th January PM

The pre-audition evening will be your chance to come and hear the show material, including the audition pieces
and to meet members of the Festival Players.  This is a fun and relaxed evening where we invite as many people as
would like to come.  PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!

The details of how you book yourself in and the preparation you will be asked to do will be published before
Christmas so please DON’T reply with questions just yet but some of the admin details are as follows:

a)       There will be a performance fee of £15, plus the normal £10 membership fee (£5 for those in Blood Brothers
as they have already paid £5)
b)      The first rehearsal will be on 10th March
c)       Rehearsals will generally be on Monday, Thursday and Friday, with principals on Friday and chorus on
Monday and Thursday.  On weeks where there is a bank holiday or a voting day then the day will be changed (see
below).
d)      You will be asked to indicate which of the rehearsals (if any) you won’t be able to make and there will be an
expectation that you will attend all other rehearsals, barring unexpected work or health related absences.  Please
note that it is expected that you will not sign up for other shows that clash with the rehearsal schedule after you
have been accepted into the cast.  However, if you have already committed to other shows then please make that
clear when you come to your audition.
e)       It would be good if men could aim to audition on the 10th and women on the 14th but this is not exclusive.
f)        We will be asking men who are auditioning for one of Percy’s bounders to do a general “bounders” audition
and the panel will then allocate the exact role.
g)      As usual, those auditioning for chorus will be asked to prepare a song of their choice.
h)       The Stage Ages below are for guide lines but may change if the right person comes along
